How it works
Initial Assessment
We evaluate the material's condition to customize our approach.
Laser Calibration
Our equipment is precisely tuned to target contaminants without harming the substrate.
Cleaning Process
High-energy laser pulses clean the surface, vaporizing unwanted materials cleanly and efficiently.
Quality Inspection
Each treated area is inspected to guarantee flawless results.
Final Reporting
We provide a detailed report covering the cleaning process and outcomes.
The technology
Laser cleaning technology refers to the process of using high-energy laser beams to irradiate the surface of the workpiece, causing the dirt, rust or coating on the surface to evaporate or peel off instantly, quickly and effectively removing the surface attachments or surface coatings of the cleaning object. It is based on the interaction effect between laser and matter.

Our equipment
Our laser cleaning equipment
Our laser cleaning machines are custom-built and tuned by Laser Sharks. Each one fires concentrated pulses that lift rust, paint, and grime off the surface at a power we set for the job: enough to strip the contaminant, not enough to mark the metal underneath. The units roll on casters, so the laser comes to your shop or site. No chemicals, no grit, nothing to haul away.

Applications
How laser cleaning works
A focused laser pulse hits the surface and vaporizes the contaminant layer (rust, old paint, oil, oxide) while leaving the base metal untouched. Nothing touches the part except light, so there is no warping, no media blasting into threads and seams, no abrasive left embedded in the surface. The only cleanup is fine dust pulled by the extractor.
Laser Rust Removal
Rust comes off down to bare, weldable metal. We use laser rust removal on structural steel, machinery, molds, and marine parts where sandblasting would dish out the surface or contaminate tight tolerances. Because there is no grit, you can clean a part in place without masking everything around it.
Laser Paint & Coating Removal
Old paint, powder coat, e-coat, and industrial coatings strip cleanly, layer by layer when you want selective removal. Good for prepping welds, removing coatings before inspection, or stripping a part without dunking it in chemical tanks. The finish underneath is ready to recoat right away.
What We Clean
Manufacturing equipment, weld seams, molds and tooling, automotive and restoration parts, marine hardware, and food-grade equipment where chemical residue is a problem. If grit or solvent is a headache, laser usually solves it.
Results
One pass. Bare metal.
Rust comes off down to weldable steel. Because there is no grit, the part can be cleaned in place without masking everything around it.

Comparison
Laser cleaning vs sandblasting and chemicals
Sandblasting works, but it eats media, kicks up grit that gets into everything, and can warp thin or detailed parts. Chemical stripping means tanks, fumes, and disposal. Laser cleaning skips all of it. No consumable media, no chemical waste stream, no masking marathon. For tight-tolerance or in-place cleaning, it is usually the cheaper option once cleanup and rework are counted.

Common Questions
Quick answers about laser cleaning in Greater Vancouver.
Will laser cleaning damage the base metal?
No. The pulse is tuned to ablate the contamination layer only; the underlying metal stays dimensionally intact, which is why the method is used on machined surfaces, molds and heritage restoration. We offer a test patch on a small area first so you can inspect the result before committing.
Is laser cleaning better than sandblasting?
For thin steel, machined parts, heritage masonry and anything you plan to recoat, yes: laser ablation removes rust and coatings without abrading the base material, and there is no spent media to contain or dispose of. Sandblasting still makes sense on heavy scale over thick structural steel and very large open areas. We run both assessments and recommend whichever fits the surface.
How much does industrial laser cleaning cost in BC?
Pricing is per project and depends on surface area, contamination type and access. Typical industrial projects run in the thousands of dollars, and same-day quotes are available for standard requests through lsharks.ca/quote. Compared against repeated chemical cleaning or equipment replacement, laser cleaning usually pays back within one to two maintenance cycles.
Do you come to our site?
Yes. Mobile service across British Columbia, focused on the Lower Mainland: Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Richmond, Delta, Coquitlam, Langley and Abbotsford, including Port of Vancouver, Annacis Island and Tilbury industrial areas. The equipment comes to your site.
How fast can I get a quote?
Send photos of the part and the contaminant. Most assessments come back within 24 hours.
