How much does industrial laser cleaning cost in British Columbia?
There is no per-hour list price, because the same square metre can take one pass or ten depending on the coating and substrate. What sets the number is the contaminant, its thickness, the material underneath, access to the site, and how much of the surface has to be done. A site assessment is free, and the estimate that follows is a fixed figure for the described scope rather than an open meter.
Is laser cleaning better than sandblasting for removing rust from steel?
For most structural and precision steel, yes. Laser cleaning removes the oxide layer without cutting into the base metal, leaves no abrasive media to collect and dispose of, and can run beside working equipment without masking off half the shop. Sandblasting is still the faster choice on very heavy scale over large open areas where surface profile matters more than precision.
Dry ice blasting or chemical cleaning for food-grade equipment, which is safer?
Dry ice, in most plants. The CO2 pellets sublimate on contact, so nothing is left on surfaces that touch product, there is no rinse water to capture, and no chemical residue to test for before the line restarts. Chemical cleaning still has a place where a validated sanitizer is required by the process itself, but it adds dwell time, runoff, and a verification step.
Do we have to shut down production while you clean?
Usually not. Both methods are dry and non-contact, so equipment can often be cleaned in place with the surrounding line running. Where a shutdown is unavoidable we scope the work around your window, including evenings and weekends, and give you the time on site as part of the estimate.
